Jim Pitts served Texas House District 10 (Ellis County and adjacent Waxahachie / Midlothian areas) from 1993 to 2015. He chaired the powerful House Appropriations Committee from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2013 to 2015, making him one of the most influential budget writers in Texas during his tenure.
Pitts's legislative work concentrated on state finance, public-school funding, transportation, and rural-suburban infrastructure. He retired from the House in 2015 and returned to private legal practice.
